Lindsay and Steve got married at Georgetown Chapel and I had the chance to document their joyous occasion in a fun and artsy way. I wanted them to remember their wedding and how cool everyone was. It was a gorgeous wedding, and here’re some of the photos.

A few months back, we had the pleasure of shooting Adrienne and Jason’s wedding at the Inn at Little Washington.
The Inn at Little Washington is not located in Washington, DC but about an hour out in a town called Washington, VA. Confused? Don’t be. Despite being a short trek from DC (which really only adds to its charm), it regularly tops annual lists of best restaurants in the DC area. Their venue for weddings is quaint and has amazing views.

The day had a very classy and intimate feel.

Photographers get younger and younger.

It was an emotion-filled day.

Our friends at the Inn at Little Washington did not disappoint.

With true DC flair and elegance, the wedding cake was decorated in-house with fresh cherry blossoms.

Congratulations Adrienne and Jason!

Two Seater
Our good friends Michelle and Adam recently tied the knot on the island of Jamaica. While location shoots are always fun, a destination wedding provides a great opportunity to capture special images of a special day.

Walk Towards the Light
Infrared photography can turn an ordinary scene into a unique dreamy look. This image is a slightly different composition from the infrared images that we typically shoot, but it was intended to emphasize the contrast between darkness and light.

Groom-Tan-Laundry
An editorial style also provides a different flavor for a bride and groom’s memories of their wedding. Versatility and quick thinking are two keys to successful destination wedding photography.

Bridge of No Return
Beautiful weather, amazing backdrops, and friendly people made this trip to Jamaica a great experience. Many photographers in the wedding industry consider destination weddings to be a perk to the job, but to shoot a destination wedding the right way requires a lot of energy and work. Ya mon!
We look forward to next month’s destination shoot in St. Thomas!

Fairfax (VA) - Photographer Hyon Smith was awarded three Accolades of Excellence for prints entered in the prestigious 2010 Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) 16×20 Print Competition. The Print Competition is a part of the annual WPPI Conference held in Las Vegas, NV. With members all over the world, WPPI is the premier association for photographers in the wedding industry.
Over 3,500 submissions were entered in this year’s 16×20 Print Competition. Each print was judged and scored by a panel of leading photographers in the wedding industry. The average of their respective marks was assigned as a print’s final score.
2010 marked the first time Hyon submitted photos to the competition, and his signature style received high marks in the Photojournalism category of the contest.

“Ladies’ Man”
Some moments require quick shooting and can never be staged. This little ring bearer was the star of a very special and fun wedding photograph.

“Untitled”
This special moment between the groom and his grandfather was quietly captured from the sidelines. A moving example of the intersection between photojournalism and wedding photography.
“Untitled”
This photograph showcases emotion, utilizes available light, and captures the moment.

Jen and Scott had a beautiful, beautiful wedding in the Bahamas. They invited their close friends (hokies-include) and family! I made a little semi-comic for the occasion. Congratulations to Jen and Scott and tune in next week for more photos!

Last weekend Adam and I had a chance to cover Sohee and Chris’s wedding, which was in Jamaica. The wedding was amazing, and all the guests were very personable and easy to hang out with. It was very intimate. The people of Jamaica were very friendly and greeted everyone with “ya mon.” It was very relaxing. I just wanted to share some of the awesome photographs with everyone from this destination wedding.
Congratulations to Sohee and Chris on their very “ya mon” wedding!

Last month, I had the pleasure of photographing Lexie and Brian’s gorgeous wedding at the St. Regis in Washington D.C. It was an amazing wedding with the groom so GQ and the bride so stunning. Lexie had everyone floored the moment she stepped out in her wedding dress. It was a blast, and I really enjoyed the photos that came out from their wedding. Congratulations to Brian and Lexie!

Everyone had an exciting time at Ati and Faraz’s wedding. Their wedding was gorgeous as expected, and naturally, Ati was glowing. During the reception, they even had a famous Persian singer named Andy, who’s sung a song with Bon Jovi and worked with Lionel Richie. They had such phenomenal music because the bride was friends with Andy. To top things off, they also had a famous and professional lighting designer from CA, Gilbert Baghramian, who made everything visually stunning. Congratulations to Ati and Faraz!

I was privileged enough to be able to capture the most precious moments of Catherine and David during their wedding. They met in the Hamptons and decided that St. Michaels, previously seen in the film Wedding Crashers, would be the setting for their international celebration. I just have to add that, man, when Americans and Australians get together, they really know how to party! Thanks again to Catherine and David for letting me be a part of their momentous occasion and congratulations, once again.
